ABT's Zimmi Coker and Carlos Gonzalez to star in BBT's Nutcracker
Boca Ballet Theatre is pleased to announce that two rising stars from American Ballet Theatre will perform in BBT’s production of the Edith & Martin Stein Family Foundation The Nutcracker! Zimmi Coker began her ballet training with her mother, Michele Coker, at the age of 10 and continued training at Classic Dance Academy in Denver. At 13, Coker competed in the Youth America Grand Prix semi-finals in Denver, Colorado and won the YAGP award for the Junior category. She attended American Ballet Theatre’s Summer Intensive for three years and was invited to join the ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School, where she performed the principal role in Valse Fantaisie and Tarantella in Antony Tudor’s Soirée Musicale. In 2014, Coker traveled to Russia to represent the ABT JKO School at the Premio Roma Jia Ruskaja. Coker joined ABT Studio Company in September 2015 and received the Dizzy Feet Foundation’s Segerstrom Award for the 2015-2016 season. She joined American Ballet Theatre as an apprentice in November 2017 and became a member of the corps de ballet in June 2018. Her repertoire with the Company includes an Odalisque in Le Corsaire, Lead Gypsy in Don Quixote, the peasant pas de deux and Zulma in Giselle, Red Riding Hood in Ratmansky’s The Sleeping Beauty, the pas de trois, a little swan, the Polish Princess in Swan Lake, Persephone in Sylvia, and featured roles in Bernstein in a Bubble, Deuce Coupe, In the Upper Room, and Petite Mort.
Born in Madrid, Spain, Carlos Gonzalez began studying classical dance in 2005 at El Conservatorio Profesional de Danza Fortea. In 2012, he continued his training at El Real Conservatorio Profesional de Danza Mariemma in Madrid. In 2013, Gonzalez placed third in the Junior Classical Dance category in the XVII International Dance Competition in Ribarroja del Turia, Spain. He joined American Ballet Theatre Studio Company in September 2015, became an apprentice with the main Company in December 2016, and joined the corps de ballet in June 2017. He was promoted to Soloist in March 2024. His repertoire with ABT includes the Lead Gypsy in Don Quixote, the peasant pas de deux in Giselle, Harlequin in Alexei Ratmansky’s Harlequinade, Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, The Faun in The Seasons, and Eros in Sylvia. He has starred in leading roles in AFTERITE, Seven Sonatas, and Single Eye, and featured roles in Deuce Coupe, In the Upper Room, Petite Mort, and Songs of Bukovina.

Clara’s dream unfolds as the Nutcracker Prince, Mouse King, and Sugar Plum Fairy all come to life in the sparkle of Co-Artistic Director Dan Guin‘s artistic vision. This year’s production will take place at Olympic Heights Performing Arts Theater at 20101 Lyons Rd, Boca Raton, FL 33434.
