Nicholas Palmquist teaches master class at BBT

On February 28, 2026, Boca Ballet Theatre had the pleasure hosting of internationally recognized teacher and choreographer Nicholas Palmquist in the studio for a contemporary master class brought to you by Festival of the Arts Boca. Nicholas encouraged dancers to let go of perfection in favor of musicality and to experiment with emoting through their movement. Our students were grateful for the opporuntity to experience such a fruitful and encouraging class!

As a freelance dancer in New York City, Nicholas’s eclectic work experience has ranged from films like In The Heights and episodes of SNL, The Tonight Show, and Netflix Original Series to live performances with American Dance Machine, on the Tony Awards, and with the Radio City Rockettes. He has taught master classes with Juilliard, NYU, ABT Studio Company and JKO, Mozarteum University Salzburg, Joffrey Ballet, Monterrey International Ballet Gala, Henny Jurriens Amsterdam, and annual workshops at Orsolina 28 in Italy. In addition to his world-famous classes at Steps on Broadway in New York City, Nicholas has accepted invitations to teach in Italy, Spain, the Philippines, France, London, Germany, Brazil, Austria, Mexico, Sweden, Russia, Poland, Paraguay, Shanghai, Japan, Slovakia, Sweden, and Switzerland.

Nicholas likes to pull from different mediums of dance to create new ways of story telling, highlighting the humanity in dance and in dancers. He aims for a fresh and nostalgic relationship with musicality that celebrates nuance. He enjoys challenging his dancers to explore the scope of their expression by creating emotional and intimate conversations as well as explosive, joyful articulations that move. We were so grateful to host him in our studio so our dancers could experience his dance philosophy!
