La Bayadère
Set in the Royal India of the past, La Bayadère, or The Temple Dancer, follows a tragic love triangle between temple dancer Nikiya, warrior Solor, and the Rajah's daughter Gamzatti. Skylar Brandt
We are so excited to welcome Skylar Brandt back after her stunning performance as Odette in BBT’s 35th Anniversary Gala as well as our 2021 production of Swan Lake! Skylar attended the American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School from 2005-2009 under the direction of Franco De Vita. She joined ABT II (now ABT Studio Company) in 2009, became an apprentice with the main Company in November 2010, and joined the corps de ballet in June 2011. She was appointed a Soloist in August 2015 and a Principal Dancer in September 2020. Her roles with the Company include Polyhymnia in Apollo, Gamzatti in La Bayadére, Medora in Le Corsaire, Kitri in Don Quixote, Lead Maiden in Firebird, the Russian Ballerina in Gala Performance, and Giselle in Giselle. Brandt was awarded a 2013 Princess Grace Foundation-USA Dance Fellowship. That same year, she was featured in the film Ballet’s Greatest Hits. In 2018, Skylar was the recipient of an unprecedented Special Jury Award for her performances on the Russian television show “Big Ballet.” In 2022, Skylar was named to the Forbes “30 Under 30” list of influential leaders and entrepreneurs.
Sterling Baca
A longtime favorite BBT guest artist, Sterling Baca returns to Boca after his powerful portrayal of Spartacus in BBT’s 35th Anniversary Gala! Sterling studied with American Ballet Theatre, first attending five of their summer intensive programs and later participating in the elite pre-professional program at the ABT Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School with full scholarship. Sterling joined American Ballet Theatre’s second company in 2010. He was later invited to join the main company as an apprentice in May 2011 and was promoted to the corps de ballet in December of that same year. He joined Philadelphia Ballet, formerly Pennsylvania Ballet, as a Principal Dancer for our 2016/2017 Season. Since joining Philadelphia Ballet, he has tackled featured and principal roles in Ben Stevenson’s Cinderella (Prince); Angel Corella’s Le Corsaire (Conrad), Swan Lake (Prince), and The Sleeping Beauty (Prince Desire); and Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo & Juliet (Romeo).
Scarlett Güémez
Also returning to Boca Raton is Scarlett Güémez, who last appeared in the powerful pas de deux from Spartacus in our 35th Anniversary Gala! Scarlett began training at the Escuela Superior de Musica y Danza de Monterrey in 2005 continuing there until 2012. During this time she attended Summer Intensives at American Ballet Theatre (2008) and Miami City Ballet (2011). She then trained at the Escuela Nacional de Artes in Habana, Cuba from 2012-2014. Scarlett joined the Compania Nacional de Danza de Mexico in 2014 and was promoted to the rank of Coryphee in 2020. She joined Philadelphia Ballet for its 2022/2023 Season.
