BBT's first Spring FUNraiser brings together generations of dancers

On March 28, 2026, Boca Ballet Theatre hosted its first Spring FUNraiser, welcoming young dancers and their families into the studio to observe our student dancers hard at work rehearsing for our upcoming mixed-repertory performance Spring Voyage. Co-Artistic Directors Jane Tyree and Dan Guin spoke to attendees about the history of Michel Fokine’s Les Sylphides, considered the first plotless ballet, or dance for dance’s sake. Then, our dancers gave attendees a sneak peek of this gorgeous romantic ballet and an idea of what it’s like to receive feedback and polish a piece in the rehearsal studio.

After rehearsal, we hosted a brief Q&A session with our audience. The younger dancers asked about what it’s like to dance on pointe and each student’s favorite dance step. These young dancers then joined the older students to eat pizza and treats as well as play fun games like musical chairs and freeze dance!

We had a blast connecting these different generations of dancers! We extend a warm thank you to all who attended the festivities and to the volunteers who made this event happen. We can’t wait to host another FUNraiser soon! In the meantime, we hope to see you at our production of Spring Voyage on April 18-19, 2026!
