Boca Ballet Theatre’s Advanced Summer Performance Workshop has earned a reputation for being one of the most thorough and rewarding dance experiences a student can have during the summer, and many use it as a launching pad for a professional career in dance. Under the supervision of BBT’s Co-Artistic Directors Dan Guin and Jane Tyree, the program offers top quality teachers and master guest Artistic Directors from top conservatories and companies around the country.

Advanced Summer Performance
Workshop Overview

Date: June 24 – July 28, 2024 (5 weeks)
Time: Monday – Saturday, 10 AM – 6 PM
Tuition: $2495 (To secure your spot in the program, you must pay a non-refundable deposit of $595.)
Location: Boca Ballet Theatre studios | 7630 NW 6th Avenue, Boca Raton, Florida, 33487.
Housing and meal plan available. Inquire for more details.

  • Take classes in ballet technique, pointe technique, variations, jazz, and modern. Additional classes in progressing ballet technique and hip-hop will also be included.

  • Use classes to audition for visiting Artistic Directors.

  • Meet and ask questions of the visiting Artistic Directors during the “Meet the Director” lecture series.

  • Learn what it is to be a member of a corps de ballet, dancing with some of the finest professional dancers in the world.

  • Dance enrichment sessions will include: question and answer sessions with professional dancers, technical theatre production, video critique of historic ballet performances, plus discussions on resume, make-up and audition skills.

  • Perform in a full-length concert with professional dancers.

ACCEPTANCE BY AUDITION ONLY!

  • Placement will be determined during the first week of classes

  • Proficiency en pointe required for female dancers

Auditions

In-Person Audition:

Registration: 4:00 PM, Auditions: 4:30 – 6:00 PM
Audition Fee - $20

Please bring headshot, at least one letter of recommendation and resumé (suggested).

Video Auditions:

We are accepting video auditions. We will accept audition applications until our workshop is full.

To secure your spot in the program, you must pay the non-refundable deposit of $595.

Dancers must submit the Online Audition Application ($20 fee) and send video, headshot, and at least one letter of recommendation to summer@bocaballet.org.

The video should be no longer than three (3) minutes and include the following:

  • Full-face video introduction, including your name and age.

  • You should be the only one appearing on the video.

  • Any classical variation best suited for the dancer OR a series of classroom exercises including adagio, petite allegro, and grande allegro.

 
 

Supervised Housing

Boca Ballet Theatre is offering supervised housing at the Residence Inn by Marriott, Boca Raton.
Housing is based on double occupancy.

All Rooms have private entrances from outdoors – no need to walk through lobby

Boca Ballet Theatre Resident Assistants will be housed at this hotel and will be organizing transportation & students’ needs. In-room housekeeping ONLY upon request. Sheets and towels provided by hotel – can be delivered to doorstep

Meal Plan

Meal Plan: $740 - $840
Prices may vary due to participation in meal plan.
Lunch & Dinner: Monday – Saturday

Lunch & Dinner will be catered at the studio. Paleo, Vegan, Vegetarian, and Keto options are available.

NOTE: Sunday lunch and dinner will be the responsibility of the student. Breakfast will be available at the Residence Inn. Resident Advisors will be available to drive students to the grocery store to stock the kitchens available in each room.


La Sylphide

BBT’s Advanced Summer Performance Workshop will culminate in a production of La Sylphide. This two-act ballet tells the story of a Scotsman named James, who wakes from a dream on the morning of his wedding to see a beautiful winged slyph. Elusive and playful, she professes her love for him. James’ obsessive pursuit of the otherworldly creature leads him to abandon his fiancée and follow the sylph into the dangerous realm of the forest sprites, where he realizes that in reaching for an unobtainable love, he has lost everything.
